The Class Representative Program at Üsküdar University Preparatory School is designed to empower students with an active role and voice in shaping their learning environment. This program serves as a platform for students to represent their peers, communicate with faculty members, instructors and Level Heads as well as the superior management, the Director of the Preparatory School. It also contributes to the continuous improvement of academic and extracurricular activities. It aims to develop leadership, enhance communication, and foster a sense of community.
Aims and Objectives:
The Class Representative Program at Üsküdar University Preparatory School aims to enhance student representation by providing a formal platform for students to express their opinions, concerns, and ideas, ensuring their voices are considered in school decisions. The program promotes leadership and responsibility by developing students' skills in representing their peers and communicating with instructors and administration. It fosters collaboration between students and staff, aiming to improve the learning environment through open dialogue, timely issue resolution, and active student engagement.
Goals:
The Class Representative Program at Üsküdar University Preparatory School aims to achieve several key goals.
- It seeks to ensure that each class is represented by two elected Class Representatives who effectively communicate student concerns and suggestions to the administration on matters related to the educational setting.
- The program aims to establish a systematic approach for collecting and relaying student feedback regarding language courses organized by Üsküdar University Preparatory School, e.g. Main Courses, Reading Skills Courses, Listening and Speaking Skills Courses and Academic Writing Skills Courses. Extracurricular activities that enhance students’ language learning experience and performance, like Language Centres, Speaking Clubs and Writing Centres are also subject to these analyses and in general school services of Üsküdar University.
- It focuses on organizing activities, such as study groups and peer mentoring through ‘The Buddy System’, to support academic success and enhance student engagement. Additionally, the program strives to promote events and extracurricular activities that foster personal development and community building.
- Finally, it aims to cultivate a harmonious learning environment by assisting in conflict resolution and encouraging active participation in school initiatives.
Recruitment Procedure & Training for Class Representatives
At Üsküdar University Preparatory School, each class is represented by at least two elected Class Representatives. The election process occurs during the first two weeks of the First Module, with the assistance of the Class Advisor Teachers. In class environments where there are a number of foreign nationalities, one Turkish and one Non-Turkish citizen is elected to enrich the multicultural educational experience and to foster dialogue, empathy and collaboration among students of various ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
