Dear students of Birmingham, Exeter, Rochester, and Richmond levels:
You are having your Proficiency Exam on Wednesday 26th of June 2024.
The exam will start at 9:00 in the morning. Please be at school at 8:30.
Don’t forget to bring pencil and eraser and your student ID card.
The exam consists of two readings, one while-listening, one listening and note-taking, an essay writing, and a speaking part. The questions of the first 4 parts are multiple choice and you must fill the correct answer on an optic sheet given to you. Your name – surname and student ID card number should be properly filled in the optic sheet. Please check the mentioned parts and be sure the parts are filled correctly and neatly.
Reading 1 è 15 multiple-choice questions
Reading 2 è 20 multiple-choice questions
You will have 65 minutes to answer both reading part 1 and part 2 questions.
After the reading parts, you will have a while-listening.
While-listening è 10 multiple-choice questions (15 minutes)
Before the listening, your teacher will give you 2 minutes to read the question. Then you will listen to the listening only once. Remember you must answer the questions while you are listening to the lecture. The answers should be marked on the optic sheets.
Now it is time for listening and note-taking part.
Listening and Note-Taking è 10 multiple-choice questions (25 minutes)
In this part, you will first receive an outline sheet. You will have 3 minutes to check the information needed on the outline sheet. Then you will listen to a lecture (only once) and you must take notes during the listening and write the notes on your outline sheet. After the lecture, you will receive the questions of this part. The questions are multiple-choice. You must answer the questions based on your notes on the outline sheet. The answers should be marked on the optic sheets.
Essay writing è 50 minutes
In this part, you will be given 6 different topics from different writing styles you have already learned in your lessons. You must choose only 1 topic and write an essay of about 300-350 words.
After the writing part, you will have a break.
The speaking part will start at 12:30 (It is obligatory to take the speaking component of the Proficiency Exam)
The speaking part is topic-based. You will be asked a question and you will have 1’:30” to answer the question within at least 5 full sentences.
The points for each part of the exam are as follows:
Reading 1&2 è 35 pts
While listening è 10 pts
Listening and note-taking è 15 pts
Writing è 30 pts
Speaking è 10 pts
TOTAL: 100 pts
